Beginning! Again.

Hello and welcome to my corner of the wide dark web. This is actually my second attempt at a blog, as my first one kinda fell through and was forgotten in the great void of time and space. To be fair, life has been crazy. Unfortunately, life will never cease to be un-crazy. I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Anyway, here, we discuss many, many things. Faith, politics, personality psychology, writing, backpacking, and much, much more.

    In case I've never told you, Ted Dekker is one of my most favorite authors. His work is one of my primary inspirations within my own writing journey. And this week, I'm revisiting his Forgotten Way study. And let me tell you... WOW. I first went through it several years ago, and it impacted me to a degree at that point. But I was also way younger and way more immature. Now, especially with all the things the Lord has been teaching me over the last two years, Ted's insights are hitting me even harder.And that's just the intro chapter that I read yesterday night. Some Dreams Really Do Come True, Part 2

  Friday, June 7, 2024 5:00 am, Mountain Standard Time My eyelids fluttered open after a somewhat choppy night of sleep. Although tired out from my long journey, I had shared the night with noisy neighbors who had no regard for campground quiet hours, and I was forced to listen to calming music through earbuds to get any sleep at all. But that mattered little now. This was my first morning in Colorado! Forcing myself to abandon my blanket, I slipped out of my tent into the cool 50-something degree morning and scrambled down to the edge of the Pueblo City Reservoir. I was like a little kid in an ice cream shop when I saw the endless heaps of shale fragments that lined the lake shore. Unlimited rock skipping! I stepped into the clear water, which was definitely decisively cool, but not outright freezing. Thesis on Baptism

       In Matthew Chapter 3, we see an odd ritual being preformed by John, cousin of Jesus. He is dipping people in the Jordan River. We're never really told why he was doing it. It's kinda just assumed that the people of that era knew why he was doing it.      But the fact that we're never told the purpose of this ritual always kinda bugged me. Baptism just never made sense. Really, it seemed a ludicrous thing. And even from a young age, I hated things that didn't make sense. Why do people get dunked in a giant bathtub in front of a bunch of other people? What in the world does that have to do with anything else about being a Christian?       Over the years, I put forth various excuses as to why I elected to not go through with it. Part of my inhibition was the extreme insecurity I had of doing anything in front of a crowd. Especially being dipped in a giant bathtub. Super awkward.
